In Mexico, Saipem on behalf of the Mexican oil company PEMEX, with whom he collaborated since the beginning of the eighties (at the time Snamprogetti, taken over then from Saipem in 2008) has created two plants producing urea of Lazaro Cardenas and Ciudad Camargo, and a plant for desulfurize residues from heavy crude oil near the refinery in Tula. Furthermore, Saipem has made on behalf of Pemex some offshore platforms and has performed the laying of pipelines at sea as part of the field development supergiant Cantarell, in the Bay of Campeche. In 2007, again on behalf of Pemex, Saipem has completed the construction of the project Ku-Maloob-Zaap, which provided the transportation and installation of six platforms in the development of the offshore Ku-Maloob-Zaap in the Bay of Campeche. In March 2010, Saipem was awarded by the Mexican oil company PEMEX the EPC contract (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) for two desulphurisation units and two amine regeneration units to be built at two refineries owned by the customer.
